April 14, Monday, 7 p.m. Anita Mechler will be storytelling at Is This a Thing? O’Shaughnessy’s Public House, 4557 N Ravenswood. The show will revolve around “You Just Don’t Understand”. She will be reading among 6 other storytellers with equally great stories. Details here. FREE EVENT
April 15, Tuesday, 8:30 p.m. Dave Hughes will be reading his lovely poetry at the Pungent Parlor in the back room of Black Rock at 3614 N Damen. This is a salon style literary show with a variety of writers reading their original pieces. Drink and food specials available. Also a FREE EVENT.
April 24, Thursday, 7 p.m. Elizabeth Gomez and Anita will be sitting down for a storytelling session at Stoop Style Stories at Rosa’s Lounge located 3420 W Armitage. This is straight Chicago style story telling, think stooping on the summer. There are also open mic slots available. More details at Stoop-Style Stories.
April 26, Saturday, 7 p.m. Elizabeth Gomez will be performing at thekates.org at the Book Cellar at 4736-38 N Lincoln. This all woman showcase features stand-ups and storytellers and other hilarity. Because Elizabeth is constantly starving for attention, we decided to share her first, but hopefully not last, stand up routine with you. Disclaimer: Elizabeth is well aware that she needs a better haircut and funnier clothing.
